Joanna says:

"I'll be a hard-working, contactable, active and local councillor who won't just push leaflets through your door - I'll be an active local presence on your street and always contactable when you need me. I will campaign for more activities and facilities for our young people working with our brilliant Youth Council and local youngsters to identify suitable projects to spend our Youth Opportunity Fund and I will work with my fellow councillors and the community to improve our local green spaces and recognising and protecting our areas precious local heritage"

   MEET MATT COOKE

COMMUNITY GARDEN

MATT COOKE has been one of the councillors for Bounds Green since 2006.

He has been the Chair of the Wood Green Area Assembly and was the Cabinet Member for Comunity Cohesion and Involvement and Regeneration and Enterprise.

For two years he was Chair of the Alexandra Palace and Park Trust and Trading Company.

As a local councillor he founded, and still chairs - in partnership with local traders and the Bowes Park Community Association - the Myddleton Road Action Group which is bringing real and lasting change to this road at the heart of our community. Through the work of the group the street is now much cleaner, getting two rubbish collections a day; it has had new heritage-style lighting installed, new paving and road surfaciong and a new parking scheme. In the coming two years over £500,000 will spent by the Council and English Heritage in restoring a number of the historic Edwardian shopfronts, removing satellite dishes, removing unsightly shutters and plastic windows and re-introducing some shop awnings.

In May this year a new community building wil open on Myddleton Road which will be the new home of the Bowes Park Community Assciation. This has come about through the work of the Myddelton Road group and the funds we have secured and, in time, should be a brilliant resource for all local people.

Matt holds three busy surgeries every month across the ward and has done every month for the last 4 years - in Partidge Way, at the Civic Centre and in Bounds Green School.

"We've worked hard over the last four years to bring real and lasting change to Bounds Green. From Myddelton Road to new lighting to new trees, to the improvements in Finsbury Gardens to the new Community Centre on Commerce Road - all local improvements won with local people and hard working local Labour Councillors"

"We saved Wood Green Police Station's lovely old building and campaigned with local people to keep the front desk open. We've helped protect precious local buildings and helped local people oppose developments that threatened the local environment. We hope local people will back us to bring about four more years of progress"
