You may
have received letters through your door recently regarding the Bounds Green CPZ which will be installed at the end of this month.
I want to let residents know what involvement I have had on this
issue.
The letter you received regarding the CPZ was composed by a local resident and trader. That note also advertised a
meeting which took place a few weekends ago on Saturday. I attended the meeting along with two residents and three local traders to
listen to the views and concerns and as a result of what I heard I undertook to look in to a number of issues.
My full response is attached with some supporting documents – click on the images to read the letters.
My letter Richmond & Eleanor Road Parade of Shops Plan
The principal point is that the initial consultation has been portayed as anti-PCZ campaigners as a referendum, which it was not.
That does not mean that a CPZ was inevitable, but where there is evidence of a real problem and the need for a solution in particular areas where a majority of the public are in support - and the
plan can be effectively implemented in a specific area - then the local authority should try and respond.
That's the basis for my support for a scheme and I hope that in the light of this correct info attached, you will agree that the
scheme which will come into effect on the 31st March is appropriate.
I would also say that I have recieved a lot of e-mails from residents regarding this both positive and in objection to the scheme. I
know that a number of resident's concerns were understandably based on the claim that 57% of residents were against the scheme. In my view this was a misleading figure to quote and I have
gone into some detail regarding this in my attached letter.
The important fact is that within the scheme which is being taken forward, there are a majority of residents in
favour.
Please do have a look at the attached letter and if you have any outstanding concerns or if there is anything else I
can be of assistance with regarding this or any other issue do get in touch with me.
